The globalization and the rapid development of E-commerce have reinforced the status of English as an international language in the world. Business English (BE) has developed a very important branch of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). With the rapid development of higher vocational and technical education in China, more and more vocational colleges emerged like bamboo shoots after a spring rain that have been training a large number of BE talents for our economic development.As the most important professional course in BE major, BE is an integration of English language and business background information, which plays an irreplaceable role in the course of BE talents cultivation. What kind of teaching approach was adopted will directly affect students learning motivation and learning results. So exploring the teaching method of BE course has a very important significance.In recent years, with the diversified development of foreign language teaching approach, a very popular teaching and learning mode in foreign countries, has got much attention in China gradually. Project-based Approach refers to the students under the teachers’guidance personally handle the whole process of a project and master the teaching contents in the process of learning. All or part of students organize, arrange learning behavior, and resolve the difficulties encountered in dealing with the project. This approach contributes to improve the students’interest and stimulate their learning enthusiasm. So "Project-based Approach" is a typical student-centered study mode.This paper selected two classes who learned BE course, one is experimental class that takes project-based approach, and the other is control class that takes traditional teaching method. Based on constructive theory, this paper made quantitative analysis of effects of two classmates. The purpose of this study is to understand the role of project-based approach in BE course, whether it can stimulate students’motivation to learn business English course and make students use English proficiently in a real business context.This paper shows that:For BE major in higher vocational colleges, BE course occupied a very important position in the professional planning and personnel training programs. Project-based approach is better than the traditional approach in business English teaching, which effectively promotes learners’autonomy, cultivates students’ cooperative learning and develops students’ability of practice.
