As Xin Jinag is a multi-ethnic region, marriage and family customs of different ethnic groups are certain to influence one another. The reasons marriage and family customs in ethnic village are comparatively studied lies,not only in understanding the development trend of their family to strengthen family status, but also in better knowing about their interaction and analyzing conditions of harmonious coexistence to provide the policy basis for national unity and social harmony.Based on field study and literature materials, the paper is intended to make a full record about marriage and family customs of Avitan Villagers in Kazak township in Changji to discuss and analyze the generality and otherness with comparative and comprehensive study methods.There are mainly five chapters in the paper. It starts with an introduction, in which elaborates the objective and significance of the research, studying conditions both at home and abroad, research sites and methods as well as main innovative points. Chapter One makes a description of Avitan Villagers and their marriage customs. Chapter Two introduces the family structure and living customs. Chapter Three paints a picture of how ethnic groups mutually understand and influence in terms of marriage and family customs.Chapter Four shows why there is generality and otherness among them, trying to find the way of harmonious relationship and to seek the basis of respect. Chapter Five comes the conclusion with cultural identity, local development and family function represented in generality.
