According to the investigation and analysis of the multimodal teaching situation of two elementary classes of School of Chinese as a second language in Sun Yat-sen University, we were well aware that the use of multimodal in comprehensive class and the collocation between different modes. Combined with the questionnaire for the students, we analyzed and discussed the students of elementary Chinese courses for the acceptance of the various modes. The results of the study show that: all kinds of teaching media in classroom plays a very important role. In the elementary Chinese teaching, teachers choose the use of which mode according to the characteristics of themselves and multimodal discourse system. In foreign language teaching, language input is always in the first place, based on the language mode, according to the specific context of classroom, such as the relationship between teachers and students, the relationship between the sounds or words and gestures, and the speech events involved. Through the various teaching parts, we found that the teachers use different modes in different parts. There are a variety of relationships between modal and modal, such as a complementary between the language, image and action, the mutually reinforcing between Language and words. And the interference between the text and the language. In a word, using multimodality in the classroom can attract the students’ attention, it also make the knowledge more easily to memorize and understand.
