This paper is based on the teaching practice, learned from task-based languageteaching (TBLT), and combined with the characteristics of the primary Chinesecourse of reading and writing. The author proposes a task-based teaching method inthe course. It is divided into six chapters:Chapter One is introduction. It analyzes the research status of the primaryChinese course of reading and writing. In view of solving the problems in thepractical teaching, it puts forward to apply TBLT in the course.Chapter Two is TBLT and its research status. The second chapter introduces thedefinition, characteristics and theoretical basis of TBLT and analyzes the use of TBLTin teaching Chinese as a second Language, including the research status, applicationcases, superiorities and the existential problems.Chapter Tree outlines the task-based primary Chinese course of reading andwriting. It analyzes the object, objectives and methods of the primary Chinese readingand writing teaching. Then combined reading and writing, it analyzes the three pairsof relations, namely the relationship between reading and writing, between knowledgeand ability, between information and culture. Then the advantages of TBLT used inthe primary Chinese course of reading and writing are demonstrated.Chapter Four designs the task of the task-based primary Chinese course ofreading and writing. It puts forward the functional objectives, language objectives andcultural objectives of the course. The task elements, task types and design principleare cleared.Chapter Five describes the teaching process of the task-based primary Chinesecourse of reading and writing. divided into task prophase stage, developing stage andfeedback stage, it designs the specific tasks of the course, and provides a detailedteaching record. At last the TBLT is reflected: the issues of the teacher’s role, classmanagement and teaching materials processing are discussed.Chapter Six is conclusion. The author introduces the application of thetask-based primary Chinese course of reading and writing in her overseas teachingpractice. Then the full text is reviewed and summarized.It still has some difficulties of putting TBLT in teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage systematically and comprehensively, but at least it can be integrated withother approaches and make teaching more efficient. The author hopes that this papermay provide some useful inspiration to the primary Chinese course of reading andwriting in the teaching methods and improve teaching efficiency.
