With the rapid economic development, people’s aesthetic tastes are changing. They look forward to hear vocal music with rich meanings and crossover singing is no doubt the carrier. High normal university aims to produce teachers who can catch upon the times. Vocal learning and practice directly affect the quality of vocal music teaching in primary and secondary in the future, and may even affect the direction of vocal music teaching in vocational schools. The vocal teaching in high normal university should keep up the pace with times and tap the talents of vocal students. That we help students broaden their ideas of singing and gain a good knowledge of basic vocals is not only conducive to their employment, but also to future vocal work. In this paper, the author focus on the crossover singing, mainly on practical issues in vocal learning in high normal school.This paper is divided into five chapters and the Chapter IV is particularly important. The first chapter is the introduction about the research background and significance, the current research status, methods and main content of this paper. The second chapter analyzes how crossover singing came into being and its significance. This chapter explores its origin and causes, and makes analysis of its inevitability. The third chapter is a contrast between crossover singing and traditional singing. It analyzes the origin and features of crossover singing and folk singing, bel canto, popular singing and the strengths and weaknesses of them. The fourth chapter focuses on the practice of it in vocal learning in high normal university. It explains why it’s a necessity for crossover singing to be included in the vocal learning, different types of crossover singing and the necessary condition to learn it. This part provides general and particular cases so as to make it clear. The fifth chapter is a summary and the outlook for crossover singing.This paper aims to explore the practice and role of crossover singing in vocal learning in high normal university. This can help students gain a reasonable understanding of crossover singing. I hope this paper can prove to be valuable in training new teachers in high normal university and attract more people to devote them into research of vocal teaching.
