A Study On Eileen Chang’s Rewriting And Self-translation Of Jin Suo J1 Based On Feminism Translation Theory

The Golden Cangue is one of the most popular novels of Eileen Chang and it has been rewritten and self-translated for four times. This thesis is a textual analysis and comparative analysis of Eileen Chang’s feminism thought implied in her rewritten and self-translated version of Jin Suo Ji based on feminism translation theory. In the first part, the author analyzes Eileen Chang’s feminism thought through her choice of the translated text. In the second part, the author analyzes the rewritten version of Jin Suo Ji from the perspective of the reconstruction of theme and topic, the reconstruction of the structure of the story, transfer of the main characters and the transfer of the titles. In the last part, the author discusses the self-translated version of Eileen Chang’s Jin Suo Ji from the perspective of diction, language style and the translation strategies Eileen Chang adopted based on feminism translation theory. Finally, the thesis concludes that both in Eileen Chang’s rewritten version and her self-translated version, her feminism thought can be revealed clearly.
