Ellipsis is a common grammatical phenomenon in language. Long ago, the ancients have already had the detection and analysis of ellipsis, but failed to study it as a grammatical phenomenon systematically. Until the eighty’s century, the domestic scholars put forward three grammatical planes——syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic clearly,then the study of ellipsis sentence showing its prosperity. Not only in Chinese,ellipsis phenomenon also appear in English frequently, Ellipsis is an important structure in English. Now American society gradually speeding up the pace of life, thus make English more concise and comprehensive. It speed up the development of ellipsis in English. With the increasing number of American students, ellipsis in teaching Chinese as a foreign language is also gradually improved.In this paper, "ellipsis" as the main object of study, based on the predecessors research results, by comparing the Chinese and English ellipsis sentence, and combining the theory research and the teaching Chinese as a foreign language, it can solve some specific problems in teaching better. The full text is divided into four chapters except the introduction.First of all, the introduction part of this article describes the significance of the topic, and then analyzes the current situation of Chinese and English ellipsis sentence,and gives a simple review and comments of the study of Chinese and English ellipsis sentence in the history respectively. On this basis, the paper define ellipsis from semantic structure and pragmatic plane. Finally, point the innovation of this paper.In the body part, the first chapter is an overview of the system of Chinese and English ellipsis, systematically introduced Chinese and English ellipsis sentence respectively, including former studies and achievements.the second chapter analyze Similarities and differences of the ellipsis omitted from the subject, predicate, object, attribute, and omission of prepositions and pronouns,conjunctions between Chinese an English.The first section of the third chapter first describes the scope and type of the non subject predicate sentence in Chinese; the second and the third sections describe thedifference between ellipsis sentence and the non subject predicate sentence, ellipsis and implicit difference respectively, at the end of the sentence; expound the usage of non subject predicate sentence and the implied sentence in English analysis and contrast with Chinese.The last chapter is the study on Chinese Ellipsis sentence teaching. In the fourth chapter, the first section mainly analyzes the foreign students in learning Chinese Ellipsis errors and the causes of errors; and then put forward some suggestions in the second section in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. to help teachers teach ellipsis sentence better in the specific environment.
