Omission is a common language phenomenon in people's daily communication. It could be used to make the language structures compact, and the expressions concise and neat. In both English and Chinese language, omission is frequently used.In this paper, based on the teaching laws of the TCSL and the learning conditions of the foreign students, the author conducted researches on the omission in both Chinese and English language using a comparative analyzing way. After analyzing and summarizing their mistakes, a conclusion has been reached. Some teaching suggestions were also come up in this paper.The paper is divided into five parts:In the first part, the literature review of the omission phenomenon was discussed.The second part focused on the similarities in omission rules between Chinese and English language.In the third part, the differences between the two languages were discussed in five aspects based on the collected sample sentences. The omission rules and some key strategies in terms of different conditions were also concluded in this part.In the fourth part, the mistakes made by the foreign students were specifically analyzed and summarized. Based on the mistakes analysis and the omission rules mentioned in the third part, some suggestions are offered in terms of teaching theories and methods.The fifth part is the conclusion of this paper and the value of this paper was also mentioned.Using comparative analysis method, this paper conducted researches on the similarities and differences between Chinese and English language in different aspects. With some suggestions were coming up in this regard based on the practice of the foreign students, the paper was of great significance for future studies.
