The Investigation And Research On The Art Of Suona In Pei Country

Pei County at the conjunction of Qilu Culture and Jingchu Culture is known as the birthplace of the trumpet and the suona(the traditional Chinese trumpet). Since Zhou Bo,a minister in early Han Dynasty, started to engage in the ensemble of Chinese wind and percussion instruments, the long history and long-standing existence, combined with the district changes and the fusion of the immigrant culture in the Huanghe River Inundated Area has provided a stage for the lodging, root taking, inheritance and development of the suona. Since the 1980 s, the suona in Pei County has taken the lead with its own advantages. However, few scholars and experts have done researches on it.Out of the curiosity about and enthusiasm on the art of the suona, the thesis, from the perspective of musicology, reviews the geographic and humanistic environment, the historic evolution, the artistic characteristics, the function of folk-custom and the status quo of the suona in Pei County. Then the thesis puts forward some effective solutions,such as digging the traditional songs thoroughly, integrating the performances of the suona ensemble, enhancing the quality of new performers and enforcing the creation of new songs to the current difficulties in the suona development. All the solutions are supposed to provide meaningful and prospective reference to the discussion of the suona in Pei County.
