In this interpretation project, first of all, the interpreter records two simulated English-Chinese interpretations of the first class of an online course, Philosophy and Science of Human Nature by Yale University, and transcribes the whole process. Then centering on the difficulties of parenthesis interpretation in the lecture, this reporter puts forward effective solutions to the problem. The reporter adopts the Interpretive Theory of Paris School as guidance for parenthesis interpretation. After an analysis of the outcome of the first transcription, some difficulties in parenthesis interpretation in class were identified:first, semantic correlation is inadequate between the parenthesis and the content before or after it; second, some kinds of parenthesis interpretation slows down the normal speed; third, a lengthy parenthesis that cuts off a fixed English phrase is often misleading. To tackle these difficulties, corresponding strategies such as following the original sequence and adjusting the word order, Omitting repetition and redundancy and seeking for hidden logic are applied to the second simulated English-Chinese interpretation after a conscientious analysis. It is found out that the above approaches are effective for parenthesis translation.Through this simulated interpretation project, the reporter has observed the language features of classroom teaching and worked out the strategies to parenthesis translation. It is expected that this project is practically enlightening and pedagogically significant.
