Studies On Poetry And Prose Of Xu Zhong Xing From The Political Horizon In The Mid-late Ming Dynasty

Xu Zhongxing,as a litterateur,is not qualify as a famous one on the ranking list of Ming Dynasty.According to current way of saying,he is only a second-rate writer.But he has his own typicality,because through studies on him,we can understand how to survive and revolt in the dark time of political struggles as a ordinary litterateur,and how does political struggles influence his literary creation.He is a epitome of ordinary litterateur in the Ming Dynasty,although he is not meet the requirements as elite,or he is not belong to hot research field,when we want to know psychology of politicians in Ming Dynasty,we need this small potato.They are revealing the living conditions of scholar in Ming Dynasty,thus let modern people understand better about psychology and ideas of them.Xu Zhongxing,as a poet also a politician,we can study him on many angles and we decide to choose political struggles as a major angle in this paper.Firstly,political struggles are a typical phenomenon in Ming Dynasty.Secondly,we can research the life stories through the members in the later Seven Masters.We can find almost every member have connections with officialdom except Xie Zhen.Like Xu Zhongxing,he spent all his life in officialdom,it’s really hard to separate his political life from his destiny.Finally,we can find almost all of his literary creations are related to official circles through his work.Then we introduce a concept called Horizont.We lay emphasis on political struggle’s horizon,mainly circled in the imperial court.In addition,we want to fuse the horizon from interpreter with the history of political struggles in mid-late Ming Dynasty.Former scholars only research on literary creations,this will lead to fossilization and not fully covered.But through the use of the fusion of horizons theory,we will see how the two horizons collided,then widen therange of study and learn more things from it.We can divide this paper into three parts:Firstly,in terms of the political and cultural background of political struggle’s Horizon in mid-late Ming Dynasty,we can analyze the four forces that to twine or twist together in that time:eunuch,imperial censor,cabinet minister group,Jia Jing Emperor.Secondly,we are trying to find out his political destiny and the conflict between being an official and being a hermit on him,something like what political struggles he went through or what influences work on him.Thirdly,in terms of his literary creations,we can observe how does his poetry and prose reflect the political struggles in Ming Dynasty and what his opinion about such things.After intensive analysis of Xu’s life,we can summarize that:In general,the whole political environment in the mid-late Ming Dynasty,is dark and disordered.In the beginning,Xu Zhongxing always take the initiative,however,he is still in a dilemma of decisions that could change the course of his political destiny.So after he failed in several political struggles,he become helplessness in the later period of his life.His poetry and prose is a good way for us to know his thoughts.In his literary creations,there are many content that reflect political and current affairs and it will help us to better understand him.
