A Practice Report On The English-chinese Translation Of AIIB News

Since it was proposed by the Chinese government, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB) has attracted the eyeball of the whole world and particularly drawn media’ attention. The reports by The Washington Post and The Sydney Morning Herald are quite representative. The writer of this practice report translated some of such news reports from the websites of these two media into Chinese, and made an analysis about the process and production of the translation.This report includes four major parts-- the translation task description, the translation procedure description, the translation case analysis and the translation conclusion. The translation task description gives an overall introduction to the translation task concerning with the background of the translation and the features of the task. The translation procedure description part is a presentation to the specific procedure of the translation. In the case analysis, the translations of titles, idioms and metonymy are summarized and analyzed. Accordingly, the translation strategies which are useful to solve these problems are discussed. The conclusion part summarizes some unsolved problems and presents inspiration and prospects for the future learning and jobs.It is hoped that this report can strengthen the understanding of financial news translation and be helpful for similar translation activities.
