Input processing theory energetically uses the cognitive mechanism of language learners to change the default strategy of the learners when processing the receive knowledge. English articles are one of the most important items in English study and widely used in English teaching and learning. Researchers raise wide concern on how to learn them effectively. Now teachers implement the traditional grammar teaching. Exploring the input processing method for effective study of English articles can continuously optimize articles study and teaching practice and theory research.This study aims at finding the different effects by comparing traditional instruction and processing instruction. In this study the participants are chosen from two types, one is 118 Grade One Junior High School EFL students in China.The other is 93 Grade One Senior High School EFL students in China. First, background investigation ensures the results maximum due to different instructions. Then a pretest divides two grade students into three groups, respectively the control group and two experimental groups. And then according to grade, students accept different curriculum learning. Two experimental groups respectively accept input processing teaching method and traditional teaching method of learning. The control group only participates in the test. Post-test and delayed post test are carried out after experiment.Through data analysis of tests, it is concluded that the input processing method and traditional teaching method both have some significant effect on improving the beginners and re-learners’ acquisition of English articles. But obviously input processing teaching method is more effective than traditional teaching method, and the continuous effect is better. Different levels of learners using input processing and the traditional teaching method for the learning of English articles are not restricted by English level. This study riches the theory of PI and cultivates students’ interest and efficiency in learning the English articles and opens teachers’ mind and their teaching resources.
