Based on the methodology of Small Triangle Theory of grammar research, this thesis studies the different performances on Bei-sentence in mother tongue and HSK dynamic composition corpus. It depicts the differences on syntactic structure, semantics and pragmatics between native speakers and foreign learners. Based on the comparative analysis, two problems are found out in Bei-sentence learning:the use of Bei-sentence is insufficient; and the major problem of Bei-sentence errors is related to semantics and pragmatics. This study also investigates 3 Chinese textbooks and 3 Chinese teaching grammar books, and reaches a conclusion that the main problem of present Bei-sentence teaching is that it gives too much emphasis on the syntactic structure while attaches less importance on the semantics and pragmatic values. Responding to this situation this study puts forward a semantics and pragmatics-oriented teaching style which provided students with syntactic structure, semantics and pragmatic values of Bei-sentence hierarchically.The first chapter reviews (a)the main contents of Small Triangle Theory; (b)the main researches on Bei-sentence with both the linguistic ontology perspective and the teaching perspective; and then depicts the main problem this study will focus on. The second chapter studies and summarizes the features on the performances of Bei-sentence in mother tongue based on the Small Triangle Theory. The third chapter summarizes the characteristics of foreign learners' use, and analyses the error types. The fourth chapter reaches an conclusion that present Bei-sentence attaches less emphasis on the teaching of semantics and pragmatic values based on the analysis of textbooks and grammar books. The fifth chapter puts forward (a)a semantics and pragmatics-oriented teaching style which provided students with syntactic structure, semantics and pragmatic values of Bei-sentence hierarchically。(b)the teaching sequence of syntactic structure, semantics and pragmatics respectively; and presents some advices on the design of exercises.This paper adopts the corpus research method, and data statistics and empirical research method to analyze the main problem on Bei-sentence teaching, and finally puts forward the appropriate teaching style of Bei-sentence.
