The Belt and Road Initiative is an important strategy made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC) headed by General Secretary Xi Jinping which is of great importance to the development of China and the rest of the world. It has attracted wide attention both at home and abroad. There are more and more reports and discussions about the Belt and Road Initiative, including many relevant lectures. It’s necessary to interpret the lectures given by Chinese professors in English for foreigners. Simultaneous interpreting has been attached great importance and widely utilized with the function of transcending language differences and spreading information efficiently. Therefore, the author chose the lecture entitled “How to Understand the Significance of the Belt and Road Initiative to China and the Rest of the World” by Duan Xia, dean of the City College of the Capital University of Economics and Business, on ORATOR, to do a simulated C-E SI practice.According to the SI practice, the author made an analysis of problems in the interpreting process and put forward corresponding simultaneous interpreting strategies in light of the Interpretive Theory, hoping to guide the future interpreting practice in the field of lectures.This thesis is composed of three chapters. Chapter One is the task description, including the introduction of the background information of the material, the requirements for this task and the audience analysis. Chapter Two is the procedure of the SSI task, consisting of the preparation, the interpreting process and the post-task evaluation. Chapter Three is the reflections on the SSI Task. First, the author introduces the basic knowledge of the Interpretive Theory and language features of the source text. Second, the author analyzes the typical problems in the SI process with specific cases and provides corresponding strategies with the guidance of relevant theory, hoping to improve the interpreting skills.
