Being a part of China, Taiwan has some differences with mainland as a result of history. But because of the same origin, the connection between these two districts cannot be segmented.Music education, especially piano education in Taiwan comprises a part of Chinese characterized music education. Being influenced by Japan, Europe and America, Taiwan started early in piano education. As the earliest music major in Taiwan, the music department of Taiwan Normal University is 70 years old. Because of its specialization, the music department of Taiwan Normal University is not only aimed at training music teacher but combining education and academic, theory and practice. Thus, we can learn and think from the past and current situation of music department of Taiwan Normal University, the top music major in Taiwan.This research on Master Theses of piano major student is a start that I figure out the develop model and purpose as well as relative results of piano education in Taiwan Normal University.This thesis stands on a unique perspective to research piano education in Taiwan universities. It is an exploration of this area as well as an expectation that we can learn and think the current situation and future development of piano education.In summary, the author focused on the education model, purpose and result of music department of Taiwan Normal University and used methods such as literature, interview and statistics. Specifically, through a statistic analysis of 96 theses, the author figured out the differences between piano education in Taiwan and mainland. As a result, we can learn from their foresights, pertinences and also problems.
