The article divided into three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction part is mainly on the sorting of the research of fertility in works of modern female writers recently.Chapter 1 discuss how fertility becomes a subject in writers’ works in a particular period by studying ideological background. Chapter 2 and chapter 3 analyze the theme of fertility in texts of modern female writers specifically. It focus on the hidden opinions of fertility from two perspectives which are national discourse and individual discourse, which mainly takes Xie Bingying, Yang Gang,Xiao Hong,Bai Lang,Su Qing,Chen Ying, Zhang Ailing’s novel text as example. In national discourse, women want to make a difficult choice between fertility and revolution, but also describe the bearing pain, which reveals the female consciousness suppressed by the revolutionary discourse. In individual discourse, female fertility is closely connected with desire.Because women pursuit their own dreams and freedom, which possibly lead to the lack of women’s mothering, they are caught in a deep self-accusation. In addition to studying their own attitude in fertility, chapter 4 will involve female fertility in the watch of the other, and discusses the fertility behavior focused by social conventions, which include premarital pregnancy, son preference and lactation. As supporting social customs and personal interests, and taking fertility as a turning point, the watching behavior is not simple, which is a process of taking women’s bodies for discipline. Conclusion summarize the opinions of fertility in novels of modern female writers, and points out the deficiency of the paper and the space that can be discussed.
