Eight immortals are widespread belief and worship of the eight immortals of Taoism in the combination of folk. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the combination of basic shape, respectively is Zhang Guolao, Lv Dongbin, Han Xiangzi, Tie Guaili, He Xiangu, Zhong liquan, Cao Guojiu and Lan Caihe. The eight immortals are each cover a different auspicious and Chinese people aspire to the thought of Wufu, often with auspicious themes appear in the works of folk art, and it is conventional is seen as a symbol ofo the good luck.The first of the eight immortals of the formation, development and origin of faith to explore, discuss the images of the eight immortals appear frequently in the works of folk art in the ideological basis;. Secondly, the author in the Ming and Qing Dynasties economic, ideological and cultural background as the breakthrough point, to at that time the townspeople’s aesthetic tendency has carried on the research, clarify the images of the Eight Immortals in Ming and Qing Dynasties folk art works application effect; thirdly, images of the eight immortals mainly seen in paintings, paper cutting, embroidery, porcelain, wood carving, building decoration, etc. different kinds and different materials of folk art, folk art themes and forms produced great influence. Finally, the author in respect of the eight immortals belief based on, combined with images of the Eight Immortals in the shape, color and other factors of bold innovation design practice, and the design scheme is applied to practical life.The main research methods used in this paper are the collection and collation of the original information, the research and application of the design documents and the analysis and discussion of the classic design case.The innovation of this paper lies in the innovation of this paper lies in the deep mining in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the historical background and the public’s aesthetic tendency of images of the eight immortals influence, and to explore the contained in the images of the Eight Immortals in the art value and the spirit of the times. The purpose is to design a number of works more accord with the modern cultural and aesthetic needs from the shape, color or the cultural creativity.
