The vanguard narrative and strong decadent tinge in Su Tong’s novels have a unique style in the same period in the literary works. This paper starts with the origin and characteristic of decadence, I will treat the decadence as an independent literary phenomenon, and attempt to dig the formation cause, performance, significance and limitation of decadent tinge in Su Tong’s novels.This paper is divided into five chapters, the first chapter discusses the origin and characteristic of decadence. Decadence comes from the emotional experience before "the end of the century". Decadence has a very important character, it is the modernity, decadence is the acceptance of the modernity, decadence will not only coordinate with modern civilization but also show a progress tendency.The second chapter discusses the context analysis of the decadent tinge in Su Tong’s novels. The age factor during the period of social transformation is the background the decadent tinge in Su Tong’s novels, the experience of lonely childhood life makes the lonely and melancholy character of the Su Tong’s novels, Su Tong grew up in the south of China, the unique cultural characteristic of the south makes the story of Su tong’s novels corrupt and decadent.The third chapter discusses the decadent tinge of theme in Su Tong’s novels, the research mainly includes four aspects:history, women, youth and reality. First aspect tells the decadence of the history, the theme of history always show a historical nihilism, the escape has the full of decadent tinge. The second aspect is the sad elegy, despair women taste the bitterness of nihility life, they harm each other as extremely mental sadness. The third aspect is the growth injury of the violent juvenile, the gloomy and lost juvenile solve all problems with violence, this is their portrayal of physical defect and psychological distortion. The fourth aspect is the frustration of the reality and themselves helplessness, those little people in the dark street accuse the reality with their own corruption.The fourth chapter discusses the decadent tinge of aesthetic meaning in Su Tong’s novels, the research mainly includes four aspects:image, color, language, environment. Su Tong’s novels has the full of decadent color, the representative image has poppy, well, tattoo, they become extremely danger in the shady of decadence, the dissemination of death in the color of world makes people sink, the decadent tinge in Su Tong’s novels becomes stronger and stronger in the decadent language and the dark atmosphere.The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the significance and limitation of decadent tinge in Su Tong’s novels. Significance is the pursuit of decadent aesthetics, which is a true creative attitude, reflecting his persistent pursuit of decadent aesthetic. Limitation is that people are addicted to decadence, and unable to extricate themselves, Su Tong’s novels are permeated with decadent atmosphere, and don’t put forward the real meaning and value of life, which difficulty make the people extricate themselves in the decadent.
