Irrational Existence:on The Image Of Juvenile In Su Tong's Novels

In contemporary Chinese literary world,Su Tong is undoubtedly a writer with a distinctive personality.He has established his position not only by his novels which are full of exquisite narrative,pure language,sluggish mood and hazy image,but also by his juvenile images which are based on his life experience,literary thought and the era.It can be said that those restless teenage images have become an impotant component of Su Tong's literary uniqueness.This paper attempts to explore those characteristics of juvenile images through various periods of Su Tong 's novels,and then analyzes the causes and significance of the formation of such image features on the reference of Chineseand western novels.The paper mainly discusses the feature,reasons and its significance and value of juvenile images in Su Tong's novels,which is divided into thefollowing three parts:The first part analyzes the characteristics of juvenile images,combining the text of Su Tong's novels.Through the reading of Su Tong 's novels,the juveniles are summarized as the characteristics of irrationality.The irrational characteristics are mainly manifested in the fascination of violence,sexual desire,and obsession with objects,which make up those irrational juvenileimages.The second part focuses on the analysis of the multiple causes of the irrational juvenile image in Su Tong 's novels.The thesis explores the three aspects which include Su Tong 's personal experience,the influence of the times and the literary resources.Personal experience is mainly from Su Tong 's growth environment,including the natural environment of his hometown,his poor and miserable family and frantic "Cultural Revolution".The influence of the times is mainly from the irrational thoughts of the West,which include the theory of Freud's and existentialism and so on.Those theories not only updated the view of human nature and literature of the contemporary Chinese writers,but also made them pay attention to those characters' s sensibility existence in novels.Those irrational juvenile images in Su Tong's novels echoed the trend of literature.What's more,Chinese and western literary resources have an important influence on juvenile images in Su Tong's novels.Those juvenile images abandon those resources including ancient wit juveniles and contemporary red teenagers,but learn a lot from the creation of juvenile images in Salinger's novels.The third part analyses the value and deficiencies of juvenile images.Those irrational juvenile images in Su Tong's novels rich literary and artistic images.Meanwhile,it also has practical valuewhich shows the complex form of human nature and helps people understand the mentalities and behaviors of teenagers,and reminds parents and teachers of concerning teenagers.Of course,we should not ignore thedeficiences of homogeneity in Su Tong's novels.The purpose of this thesis is to explore the chacteristics,causes and value of juvenile images in Su Tong's novels.Comibining the creation of juvenile images in various periods of Su Tong,Su Tong's experience and contemporary literary trends,the paper reveals the relationships between juvenile images,personal experience,the eras and literary tradition,and finally forms objective and sensibleevaluation on juvenile images in Su Tong's novels.
