Taking the intermediate Chinese class in the Confucius Institute at University of Vienna as example, we try to discuss about student-centered instructional design of particle "le". Based on the analysis of learner and teaching material, according to instructional design theories, second language teaching theories, learning view of Humanism and Constructivism, we give suggestions about teaching particle "le" from different aspects. Besides, we choose the grammar in lesson 2and lesson 5 as examples to show systematic design and analysis.Instructional design is an important part in the research of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, good design can greatly improve the efficiency of teaching during class, and can play a significant role in leading the course. Currently, there are abundant researches about particle "le" both as noumenon and as teaching grammar, but research about instructional design of "le" is still very insufficient. Besides, most of the researches are focus on foreign students in China, hardly relate learner abroad like in the Confucius Institute or other similar classes. Based on this background, we pay attention to the features of learner in the Confucius Institute, analysis their actual demands, trying to make the studying of particle "le" easier and more interesting. We hope this research could enrich the exploration of teaching particle "le", and provide reference for those teaching in similar classes.This research is mainly divided into four parts:the first part takes a look at the current status of relative researches, including noumenal researches of particle "le", second language teaching researches of particle "le", and "student-centered" second language teaching researches; the second part is a general analysis of the subject and object in our instructional design, including the analysis of curriculum, learners and relative grammars in the textbook; in the third part, we give specific methods and suggestions about student-centered instructional design of particle "le", considering objective setting, grammar explaining, practice designing, teacher-student interaction, situation creating, instructional media choosing, etc.; in the fourth part, we choose two specific case to show systematic design and analysis, all the teaching objectives, teaching contents, teaching procedures and teaching methods are determined according to the needs of learner, we also evaluate the class from students’ side.
