For a long time, the problem of teaching method has been paid high attention in TCSL. We summed up our own experiences, while trying to learn foreign advanced experiences. The main methods of second language teaching are Grammar-Translation Method, Natural Method, Audiolingual Method, Function Method, Task-based Language Teaching, Communication Approach and so on. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages. Compared with the traditional Chinese teaching, the teaching way has transformed from the mechanical input by teachers to taking students as the center gradually, increasing the chances of learners’ language input, which is a great progress. To further increase the opportunity of content learning and achieve the purpose of practice, this paper will explore the application on Advanced Chinese Comprehensive Course of thematic instruction, which aims to let students put knowledge into practical life through the combination of language form and content. The ultimate goal of TCSL is to make the learners communicate successfully in Chinese. In order to achieve this goal, improve the students’ interest in Chinese classroom, improve the students’ ability of autonomous learning and collaborative learning, the satisfaction of classroom teaching, we need to keep trying new methods in the process of teaching. This article selected the theme of "environmental protection" and made a teaching design, which followed and carried out the concept of "thematic instruction ". This teaching method embodies the "student-centered" philosophy advocated by constructivism. It pays attention to cultivate the ability of language output accurately and appropriately as far as possible in the real communication situation.This article consists of six parts.The part of Introduction introduces some relevant research results about "Thematic Instruction" domestic and abroad and suggests research purpose and value.Chapter one introduces the connotation, theoretical basis, characteristic and general process of thematic instruction.Chapter two analyses the feasibility of thematic instruction theory apply to advanced Chinese comprehensive course, including teaching philosophy, teaching objectives, teaching principle and teaching objects.Chapter three presents the concrete design scheme of thematic instruction theory applying to advanced Chinese comprehensive course, mainly through the selection of teaching theme and the presentation of teaching design.Chapter four explain the revelation and reflection of thematic instruction theory applying to advanced Chinese comprehensive course.The last chapter is epilogue.
