Research On Liao Bingxiong‘s Comic Art

Mr Liao Bingxiong started to publish cartoon works since 1930 s till 21 century. He has insisted cartoon creation for seven years. He has been growing together with Chinese cartoon. It can be said as epitome of Chinese cartoon history. The cartoon works of Liao Bingxiong combines traditional Chinese painting technique with Chinese folk art at the meantime taking in western painting skills. He is frank in personality and most of his works are critical and ironic cartoon, who is cartoon painter with revolutionary ideas. Liao Bingxiong is not only an admirable artist, but also famous for being ideologist in art circle. He has always focused on overall time background in his paintings and great social theme with few interests in expression of little fun with strong sense of social responsibility and mission. His ideas represent spiritual sate of intellectuals at that time, which is worthy of attention and research of us.I write the thesis out of respect for personality and artistic attainment for older generation of cartoonists. The thesis makes research and summery through collection about articles and pictures in aspects of life experience, social background, cartoon works and comments from friends related to Liao Bingxiong, with the focus on explanation about artistic features and reasons for Liao Bingxiong’ s cartoon, with the purpose to understand the cartoonist with legend color from the perspective of artistic features of Liao Bingxiong’ s cartoons. We can feel about transition of social history from 20 century and 21 century as well as development status of ironic cartoon in China from cartoon works of Liao Bingxiong. What kind of new road of Chinese cartoon for us to look for is worthy of consideration and study at present when Chinese ironic cartoon is increasingly declining.
