Nowadays, with the rapid development of global political economy and the increasingly fierce competition, laws and regulations are playing an essential role in interstate cooperation. Legal translation has always been regarded as one of the most difficult types in translation due to its professionalism, preciseness, objectivity and the current patchy domestic market of legal translation. On the basis of the schema theory, this paper takes 21 CFR Part 112, Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption as the object of study, aiming to discuss the linguistic characteristics of legal English as well as the influential factors in legal translation and to propose some suggestions for legal translation. Furthermore, it may contribute to the legislation and related modification in our country, preventing legal disputes and specifying obligations and responsibilities on both sides.
