As an important part of transition, academic translation has been made great contributions to translation theory and practice. In the academic field, academic translation promotes the international exchange of scientific research greatly. The source text of this translation report was selected from the first chapter of Education and Mind in the Knowledge Age, wrote by Carl Bereiter. The report intends to analyze problems and to summarize methods used to solve these problems in the translation process. It includes four major parts—the translation task description, the translation procedure description, the translation case analysis and the conclusion. The translation task description introduces the background and nature of the texts. The translation procedure description is an introduction to the specific procedure of the translation. The case analysis focuses on the translation problems and strategies concerning with the translation of titles, the understanding of the words, the translation of the complex sentences and the manipulation of textual cohesion. The conclusion presents the unsolved translation problems. Based on the characteristics of source text, the translator pays much attention to the transmission of information when translating and solving problems.Through the analysis of translation process, the report attempts to identify the translation problems and to supply the strategies of solving them.
