| Biographical literature,such as interviews,diaries,etc,is a kind of documentary literature,in which biographical characters,historical background and other information all contain a large amount of cultural information of different nationalities.Moreover,the correct processing of cultural information is of great help for the target language readers to better understand contents transmitted by the source text better.Hence,translators should be more rigorous in dealing with transmission of cultural information.At present,the great mass of studies on cultural information transmission at home focus on the translation of information texts,rather than on cultural information transmission in interview biographical literature translation,which needs to be urgently strengthened.Under the guidance of reception theory,the study of cultural information transmission on interview biographical literature translation in this paper will be explored from three parts: etiquette appellation,religious customs and historical events,through analyzing translation examples in THE VOICE OF HOPE:CONVERSATIONS WITH ALAN CLEMENTS(excerpt),a piece of interview biographical work of Allen Clementz(an American journalist).Besides that,such translation techniques as literal translation,additional translation,adaptation,etc,are applied to solve the problem of cultural information transmission encountered.This translation practice demonstrates that reception theory can help translators deal with the problem of cultural information transmission in interview biographical literature translation.Hopefully the study will be beneficial to relevant translation in the future and to the translators engaged. |
