A Practical Translation Report On The Federal Investment

This thesis is an English-Chinese translation report about the Federal Investment from CBO assigned by Harbin Yutang translation company. The author analyzes the translation problems from words, sentences and text levels and uses several translation strategies to solve them at the same time. Finally, the author summarizes and reflects this translation task and shows his expectation for the translation work in the future.This thesis can be divided into four parts. Part one is a general introduction to CBO and the client’s requirements, the characteristics and requirements of the translation task.Part two is a description of the process of the translation task. In this part, the author mainly mentions contents about the translation theories, plans, the table of economic terms, the analysis of text types, the choice of translating methods as well as the follow-up translation activities.Part three is the most important part of this thesis. This thesis analyses the characteristics of the Federal Investment report from words, sentences and text levels. It gives specific examples and describes the problems when translating the report as well as the methods of solving them.Part four is the conclusion part. This thesis arrives at the conclusion that in order to be a good translator, being dedicated and having enough background knowledge are not enough. The sense of responsibility and mission is also necessary. A good translator should concentrate on the main points and make the proper arrangements of the contents. In the future, the translator should try to use translation software to achieve good translation. The author hopes this paper will make good preparations for the author himself to be a good translator. Finally, the author sincerely hopes this translation report will provide some reference to those who want to be good translators.
