With the continuous promotion of Chinese teaching in the world, textbooks for teaching Chinese as a second which are written in various languages by China can not meet the actual needs of Chinese language teaching in different countries; in order to promote Chinese language teaching, Chinese workers in some countries has began to write nationalized Chinese textbooks. Australian Chinese textbooks "Ni Hao" and "Step Up with Chinese" are written as nationalized Chinese textbooks based on this requirement and purpose.This paper selects first two sets of textbooks and workbooks of "Ni Hao" and "Step Up with Chinese" as the research object to make comparative analysis of their own characteristics and weaknesses based on writing philosophy, textbook structure,vocabulary, grammar, Chinese characters, cultural content and practice; trying to finding out some experience and questions of Australian nationalized Chinese textbooks’ construction and working out some principles and key elements for this construction. This has practical significance for the construction of Australian nationalized Chinese textbooks and can provide some reference for other countries’ Chinese textbooks’ construction.This article consists four parts. The first chapter is an introduction, introducing the origin and significance of the study and research methods and generalizing the relative research on Chinese textbooks written and contrast. The second chapter is comparative analysis of "Ni Hao" and "Step Up with Chinese", focusing on the preparation of the theoretical, textbook structure, vocabulary written, grammar written,Chinese characters, cultural content, as well as practice settings to compare the first two sets of textbooks and workbooks, points out the characteristics and shortcomings of the two sets of textbooks and workbooks. The third chapter is the inspiration from the two sets of textbooks for the construction of Australian Chinese Textbook, basedon comparative analysis, combining the strengths and weaknesses of the two sets of textbooks, summarizes the inspiration and future experience for the construction of Australian Chinese textbook.The fourth chapter is the theory of Australian nationalized Chinese textbooks’ construction, based on the previous and nowadays study, to present the main level and the principle of Australian Chinese textbooks’ localization construction; and from the type of textbooks, cultural elements, language elements’ contrast, skills training andlocal vocabulary to note several key points of the Australian Chinese textbooks’ localization construction, in order to be able to provide some reference for the construction of Australian nationalized Chinese textbooks.
