Research On Xu Qianxue’s Poetry

Xu Qianxue was an important minister who served as Minister of Justice in Kangxi Dynasty. Xu Qianxue had great learning,in addition,he wrote articles very well so that he was appreciated by Emperor Kangxi.Xu Qianxue was ultimately responsible for compiling Ming History, Daqing Yitong Zhi and so on, he became the central figure of the scholars at that time.From what is mentiond before we can come to the conclusion that Xu Qianxue was dominant figure in politics and academia. For a long time, Xu Qianxue’s literary creation are not taken seriously and relevant research results are few. In recent years, people have studied the ancient prose creation,but poetry has not been systematically studied. The thesis,base on Dan Yuan Wen Ji,analyze Xu Qianxue’s poetics ideas,poetry contents and artistic features of poetry in detail to have a comprehensive understanding of his poetry writing.The thesis is divided into four parts except introduction and epilogue:First part,first illustrate that Xu Qianxue and his brother Bingyi,Yuanwen could pass imperial examination that related to profound family culture and good home education.Then introduce Xu Qianxue’s life from official way,making friends,writing books and collecting books.Second part,research Xu Qianxue’s poetics ideas.Xu Qianxue didn’t write specialized poetics theory works,but he wrote prefaces and postscripts for friends’collection of poems and essays.We can conclude his poetics ideas by means of studying these prefaces and postscripts.Third part, research Xu Qianxue’s poetry contents.The thesis divide poems into three main categories,poems of making friends,poems of travelling and poems of history. The thesis select some poems to analyze from each category.Fourth part, research artistic features of poetry. From the perspective of genre, Xu Qianxue’s poems have various genres.From the perspective of style, Xu Qianxue’s poems are graceful and peaceful.From the perspective of writing techniques,Xu Qianxue is good at using allusion.
