Report Of The E-C Translation Of Biography

As the bridge of communication, translation weighs a lot in our daily life. However, owing to the differences in culture and thinking ways, people in East and West countries have their separated language structures and expressions.Whenever we translate materials, the consideration about language habit and cultural background must be taken into. Taking Voice of The Flute as example, the source text is featured with frequent use of long sentences and the structure of these sentences is very complicated. When translating the source text into Chinese, the translator must grasp the language features of the source text as well as the relationship between sentences. By applying the matricial norms and textual-linguistic norms, the translator uses amplification, omission and four-character structures to analyze the examples so as to make the translation easier to understand and cater for the customs of potential readers. Operational norms offers an new way in this translation activity. The author hope this thesis may contribute some clues to those who are interested in translation, especially biography.My paper includes five parts: First, the translator introduces the background of the task. Second, the translator thoroughly introduces the process of this translation practice. Third, it is the core part of the thesis. The translator introduces the operational norms and presents some typical examples and analysis of my translation Fourth, the author shares the gains and experience as well as reflections and prospect. The last part is the conclusion, which concludes the shortcomings and limitations about the translation, and some inspirations and expectations out of the practice.
