The Meaning And Use Of Medieval Mongolian Personal Pronouns ’ba’ And ’bida’

Choosing original version, Chinese glosses version, and Chinese translated version of the Secret History of the Mongols as research object, the thesis studies their application and meaning discrepancy between medieval first person plural pronouns ’ba’and’bida’.The thesis consists of introduction, chapter one and chapter two, bibliography, follow-up. The introduction part introduces purpose of selecting topic, research significance, research method, and reviews previous related researches. Chapter one analyzes the significance and application of first person plural pronoun’ba’in Chinese glosses version and Chinese translated version of the Secret History of the Mongols’. In Chinese glosses version, first-person plural pronoun’ba’is translated as’an (Ⅰ)’, while in Chinese-translated version, it is interpreted and translated into several characters such as’an (Ⅰ)’,’wo (Ⅰ)’,’wo men (we)’. A great many examples in works show that first-person plural pronoun’ba’do not include the listener. Chapter two analyzes meaning and application of first person plural pronoun’bida’in Chinese glosses version and Chinese translated version of the Secret History of the Mongols. In Chinese-glosses version,’bida’is translated into’zan (we)’,’an (Ⅰ)’, and’zan mei’, while in Chinese-translated version,’bida’is interpreted and translated as’an (Ⅰ), zan mei, zan (we), wo (Ⅰ), wo men (we)’and so on. Plenty examples are analyzed to explore meaning and application of first-person plural pronoun’bida’, and the conclusion shows that application of first person plural pronoun’bida’involves speaker, listener, and third person. First person plural pronoun’bida’includes listener, but excludes third person, and also excludes listener, sometimes.The last section is the summary and conclusion of the full text.The following part shows thast "the Secret History of the Mongols" of the pronoun Bida by translation and general translation.
