Zhuang Zi and his book——< Zhuang Zi> have a profound and extensive effect on traditional Chinese philosophy, literature, aesthetics, art and spirit of Confucian personality produced. In his deep ideological and theoretical system, ugly grotesque aesthetic is one of the important themes. Ugly grotesque aesthetic pioneered by Zhuang Zi, for the first time explicitly be brought into the field of literature and art performance. He points out that the appearance of ugly grotesque can have a beautiful spirit.This paper is divided into four chapters based on ugly grotesque aesthetic of Zhuang Zi. We discuss the basic questions about ugly grotesque aesthetic of Zhuang Zi, which consist of the root cause, meaning and expression. We discuss why Zhuang Zi can form ugly grotesque aesthetic from the three angles of his life experience and temperament, academic thought, time background in the first quarter. In the second quarter, we discuss the meaning of Zhuang Zi’s ugly grotesque aesthetic and specific image. Third quarter is through the analysis of the ugly grotesque of language expression. Chapter 2 centers on "Deformed man" and "Scattered wood". We discuss the beauty of the spirit of the ugly and grotesque appearance.Chapter 3 and chapter 4 enter the field of "Reception Aesthetics", exploring Zhuang Zi’s ugly grotesque aesthetic influence on the later literature and art. In the third chapter, I summary Zhuang Zi’s ugly grotesque aesthetic influence on the later literature, and then discuss the deformities, scattered wood performance in the field of the later poems and articles; The fourth chapter into art field, focusing on the painting. I summary Zhuang Zi’s ugly grotesque aesthetic influence on the later art firstly, and then focus on grotesque figure painting and deadwood painting, to analyze Zhuang Zi’s ugly grotesque aesthetic influence on the painting.
