The Comparison Research Of WangDuo And Huang Daozhou’s Calligraphy

The commodity economy, which germinated in the middle of Ming Dynasty and flourished in the late Ming Dynasty, gave birth to the individuality liberation thought in the ideology realm and injected invigorate to the calligraphy circle in the middle and late Ming Dynasty. The two outstanding calligraphers, Wang Duo and Huang Dao were born in this period, whose characteristic calligraph represented the epik of that era. There is typical significance by comprehensively comparing Wang Duo with Huang Daozhou.In this paper, the first chapter briefly describes the historical background of Wang Duo and Huang Daozhou’s calligraph, and shows the importance, necessarility and typicality of their appearance in a historical perspective. The second chapter compares the similarities and differences of Wang Duo and Huang Daozhou’s Calligraph view. The same view was worshipping the ancient worship thoughts and practices. The difference were the attitude and aesthetic ideals. The third chapter is the key point, which compares their brushwork, structure and writing rule. The common feature is the calligraphers1 epoch characteristic in the late Ming Dynasty, which is the basis for comparison. The different feature is that Wang Duo’s "new" and Huang Daozhou’s "ancient". Finally, the last chapter summarizes Wang Duo and Huang Daozhou’s mainly difference is that, on the basis of the same epoch characteristic, Wang Duo’s "new variant" and Huang Daozhou’s "classic". The former was the revolutionary change, but the later was recombining improvement. Their successful model of development has an important reference and inspirations to the development of the contemporary calligraphy.
