Research On Linguistic New Elements Of Weibo Language

The coming of Internet age has caused the rapid emerging of Internet-based new media, which has changed the traditional media communication model and folk information receiving model. Unique language environment of Internet media has produced a large number of language forms with novelty, enriched meanings and distinctive colors, which have improved language life. Weibo, as the typical representative of Internet media, is the main area for the generation and full demonstration of new language elements. Weibo language has demonstrated that such new elements are both with heavy Internet language features and their own characteristics.New elements in Weibo language are mainly reflected from three aspects, such as vocabulary, grammar and pragmatic.Vocabulary is most prominent among the three aspects. On one hand, a lot of new vocabulary have been generated by the means of homophones, illustrations, abbreviations, analogies and rhetoric, having widely assimilated a lot of borrowed words and dialect. On the other hand, part of original Chinese characters are transformed during the random combination process, having caused extension and increase of word meaning as well as change of emotional features of words. The increase and variation of word meaning also have changed morpheme system, thereby increasing a lot of new morphemes to Chinese and changed some original morphemes. As for grammar, there are a large number of flexible usages of words, first person subject is inclined to be committed whereas the second person subject is frequently used; New words are frequently produced by analogy, leading to a great number of class affixes. As for pragmatic, a lot of code hybrids are shown in Weibo language; emoticons and punctuation are playing an important role in Weibo language. It has been seen from the vocabulary and grammar used in Weibo language that it Weibo language is characteristic of spoken language. Effects of language expression have been reinforced by applications of various rhetoric methods.Language variation reflected from Weibo is caused both by external and internal reasons. The latter are mainly mutual interactions among language elements and rule of language meme; The former are mainly the functions of society psychology culture and language contact. It is just the external and internal reasons that have pushed language variation and formation of language features.Weibo language is the representative of Internet language, which has been rooted into people’s daily language and caused great influence. One one hand, Internet language has offered fresh nutrients to Chinese language; On the other hand, the incorrect uses existing in Internet language have negative effects on the correct use of Chinese language. We should make appropriate education and guidance for the uses of Internet language on the base of knowing Internet language and language regulations.
