China is the first country to use natural raw lacquer, "Lacquering" is a symbol of our national and traditional culture and aesthetic spirit, it is a historical and cultural treasure that carries the rich and creative wisdom and humanistic accomplishment of ancestors, it is the materialized manifestation of the ideal spiritual life of Chinese nation for thousands of years. Natural Chinese lacquer craft that is called “Mu” lacquer, this traditional lacquer craft is a heritage of the thousands of years, has a broad development space and a long history and culture, however, in the current, this long history traditional lacquer craft of China is facing the full impact that brought by the globalization of the world economy and Western culture and modern industrial civilization, the traditional lacquer art is increasingly alienated with Chinese people’s daily life and it is gradually fading. Modern lacquer art of our neighbors, Japan and South Korea, although received great impact as we,but they have one step ahead before China in the protection and inheritance of traditional lacquer art, for the "lacquer ware",this traditional crafts categories has been preserved in the life of modern people. Its successful experience and measures worthy of we study. This paper through the main line of historical development of traditional “Mu” lacquer, various problems of the inheritance and development are gradually analyzed from the “Mu”lacquer material technology and place of origin of lacquer. And through the comparison of the lacquer craft with the developed countries, combining with the actual situation and development status, learn from the successful experience of lacquer culture heritage from developed countries. Expand the forms and scope of application of materials of the lacquer art, research the inheritance and development of traditional“Mu” lacquer craft in contemporary society, to explore an innovative road of lacquer art that belongs to the development of contemporary China. In addition, as the Chinese intangible cultural heritage, lacquer art is the project that our country vigorously conserved and supported in recent years.In view of this, this paper study and compare in detailed and in-depth through the pattern and the method of the inheritance and protection to the traditional“Mu”lacquer craft, it is the deep reflection of the major problems and the important aspects that need tobe improved in our country at present in inheritance and development of categories of Chinese traditional arts including“Mu” lacquer craft.
