Till date of 22 October 2015, more than 500 Confucius institutes and 1000 Confucius Classrooms have been founded all over the world, and the development momentum is going rapid. But teaching and interpretation studies of “The Analects”cannot catch up the needs of the education of teaching Chinese as a foreign Language.“The Analects” is compiled by collection of the speeches of Confucius and his disciples, It demonstrates the core value of the thinking of Confucius and Confucianism. It’s not only the treasure of Chinese culture, but it’s been interpreted in more than ten languages in the world, and dozens of complete interpretation and selected interpretation English masterpieces. Along with the emergence of English interpretation, people study the text and ideological content of “the Analects”in the early stage, then gradually turned to start studying the interpretation style, way of using vocabulary, way of thinking and interpreter background, etc. But among all the core concept-words in “The Analects”, such as “Jun-zi”, “Xiao-ren”, “Ren”, “Li” and“Zhong”, studies are still in a blank field.People who participate in the English translation of the Analects and put it into teaching practice are very few. This essay takes the translation versions of “The Analects” of James Legge, Ku Hungming,Arthur Waley, D.C.Lau, Wen Shaoxia, Roger Ames & Henry Rosement, Ding Wangdao, Wu Guozhen as linguistic data, uses comparison and the method of qualitative and quantitative analysis, emphasis on analysis of the translation versions of Roger Ames and Wu Guozhen. Through the comparative analysis of foreign and domestic English interpretations, this thesis puts primary focus on the interpretation strategies for the core concept-words of “The Analects”, and probe into the English translation strategies and its rules in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. This article believes that these authoritative translation versions hold obvious differentpoints in translating these concept-words, because “The Analects” is a form of quotations expressed in neat phrases, sometimes it’s difficult to understand. Second,translators’ educational background, knowledge structure, purpose of translation,cultural tendency and social environment areimportant influencing factors.This thesis alsoputs forward some suggestions for the future translating, researching and teaching of “The Analects”.
