Robert Schumann is the most romantic composer in the history of music in nineteenth Century,and the piano work Papillons Op.2 is one of his early representative work.which contains twelve pieces.This paper takes Papillons Op.2 as the research object, with the deep analysis of its background,music features and annotation for performance. The research of the background comes first, then the paper focuses on the music features, which includes the innovation of its subject matter, the descriptions of its music characteristics, the use of the subtitles and the literacy of the whole work. Finally, based on the above,the paper has a thorough analysis of the annotation for performance.which is detailed in six aspects:the likeness of dancing music.the management of the parts with multi-layers.strong dynamic,the innovative rhythm, the freedom of the velocity,the appropriate use of the pedal. In a conclusion,the study hopes to help players have more insights with the work and play well.
