Provided with unique cultural characteristics, Ci poetry is a treasure not only to traditional Chinese cu lture but also to th e world lite rature, benefiting from its conciseness in language and abundance in connotation. Ci poetry is also called “a combination of long and short sentences”, which means there are dif ferent length of sentences in the same Ci poetry. Under every Ci epigraph, the num ber of words and sentences, rhyme and so on, are all strictly prescribed. Therefore, the translation of Ci is much harder than that of the other forms of poetry. It is a long and high-responsible way to go for translators to translate Song Ci.The term “gestalt” originated in Germany, and it means “whole”. The theory of image-G actualization is first brought up by Jiang Qiuxia in Aesthetic Progression in Literal Translation: Image-G Actualization published in 2002. Ji ang insists that the success of literature translation depends on the realization of image-G in the tar get language. So, during the transformation of language structure and various elem ent meanings in literatu re translation, translators should pay special attention to the comprehension of the whole beauty in the original language. Translators are supposed to set up a whole im age-G, which is a w hole comprehension, a relatively entire appreciation experience. Im age-G emerges from the comprehension of original language and contributes to the reproduce of target language.Based on the theory of image-G actualization, this thesis applies the m ethod of qualitative and quantitative analysis, comparative approach and intends to explore the reproduction of image-G by comparing different translated versions of Song Ci and aims to poi nt out the sim ilarities and dif ferences of dif ferent versions in rhym e, rhythm, image and syntactical coherence and to reveal the influence of translation quality resulted from translator ’s deflected attention between “language processing” and “overall reconstruction”.This thesis is to e xplore the instructive significance of the theory of image-G actualization to the transference of ideorealm in translating classical Song Ci and to draw the conclusion: as for poetry, the special form of literature, in the process of translation, translators shoul d not be satisfied with re presentation of the words, sentence patterns and their m ere rhyme, rhythm and i mage, and should pay m ore attention to that from the perspective of translation appreciation; readers are no longer confined to judge the success or failure of every word but focus o n the overall aesthetic of the poetry in all directions, thus this paper can further approve the instructive significance of the theory of image-G actualization to th e translation of classical Song Ci, and meantime make up for lack ing study on the transference of ideorealm in translating classical poetry.
