Studies On Mongolian Bird Names

Mongolian people have been naming things of nature and phenomenon with their own unique way of thinking since ancient times, and those names have become an important part of the Mongolian vocabulary. The present thesis focuses on selected bird names from the vast Mongolian vocabulary, and the general situation, structural features, naming features, origins of the bird names as well as some idioms connected with birds are researched.This thesis consists of introduction, body (three chapters), bibliography and acknowledgments.Introduction includes illustration of the topic, research significance, research process, research methods and research materials, etc.In chapter I, the present author introduces the overview of the Mongolian bird names briefly, and illustrates the hierarchy and applications of the birds names.The chapter II analyses the naming features, structural features, origins of the Mongolian bird names in detail.In chapter III, the author explains the symbolic meanings of some birds by studying Mongolian idioms connected to some birds.The last section is the summary and conclusion of the full text.
