This report is a reflection on the simulated consecutive interpreting of the academic lecture—“A Cognitive-Linguistic Approach to Speech Acts” delivered by Dr. Klaus-Uwe Panther, the former president of the International Cognitive-Linguistics Society and Professor of Hamburg University, during his visit in Shandong University of Finance and Economics. The purpose of this report is to render some feasible suggestions for the interpreting practice in the future. This report comprises four chapters. Chapter One introduces the background information of the simulated interpreting and the features of this speech. Chapter Two sheds some light on the preparations before the simulated interpreting, including the preparation for the background knowledge of this academic lecture, terms and names list, the preparation for tools and the interpreting quality control. Guided by the Interpretive Theory, Chapter Three analyzes the difficulties and the applied interpreting skills in this simulated interpreting at lexical level, syntactical level and textual level followed by Chapter Four conclusion, summarizing the enlightenments and self-introspection from this simulated consecutive interpreting practice.
