A Practice Report On The C-E Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of A Lecture On Positive Psychology From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

The practice report is based on the simulated consecutive interpreting of a lecture on positive psychology delivered by Professor Yu Feng on Bilibili live platform on August 4,2021.The main content of the lecture is an introduction to positive psychology and its application in real life.This report analyzes the interpreting problems of incoherence,redundancy and inappropriate cultural expression caused by colloquial language and improper interpreting strategies,and proposes their relevant solutions from the perspective of interpretive theory.The theory splits the interpreting process into three parts: comprehension,de-verbalization and re-expression.According to that,the author offers the relevant solutions for the problem mentioned above.The strategies of complement,re-organization and addition of logical connectives are adopted for incoherent problem.Redundancy lies in the redundant original language,language differences and inappropriate expression from the interpreter.It is solved by the measures of integration,omission and massive interpreting skills training.Meanwhile,the strategies of cognition,explanation,quotation and re-expression are adopted by the author to address the issue of inappropriate cultural expression.Through the case analysis,the author proposes three suggestions to improve interpreting fluency.First,interpreters should grasp core information to reduce redundancy and enhance the logic.Second,interpreters should comply with language rules and ensure the rationality and acceptability of interpreting.Third,interpreters should accumulate cultural knowledge and expressions so as to enhance interpreting fluency.
