A Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of The Lecture Of "The History,Capabilities And Frontiers Of Ai" From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

�The History,Capabilities and Frontiers of AI� is an academic lecture delivered by Demis Hassabis at the Royal Society.As an academic lecture,it mainly transmits academic information and exchanges academic thoughts.In order to improve the understanding of the artificial intelligence and Dr.Demis Hassabis,the top expert of artificial intelligence,I interpreted this lecture into Chinese.This report is based on the practice of simulated consecutive interpreting of �The History,Capabilities and Frontiers of AI�,guided by the Interpretive Theory of ESIT,to study the English-Chinese interpreting process of the academic lecture of �The History,Capabilities and Frontiers of AI�.By analyzing the application of different interpreting strategies,I have explored the guidance of Interpretive Theory in interpreting practice.In the process of interpretation,I have interpreted from the perspective of discourse and sense guided by the Interpretive Theory.The Interpretive Theory is based on the practice of interpreting,and its understanding of the translation process is an important achievement.According to the Interpretive Theory,the interpreting process can be divided into three stages: the stage of comprehension,the stage of de-verbalization and the stage of reformulation.Guided by the Interpretive Theory,this paper analyzed the process of interpreting from English to Chinese in order to explore the guidance of the Interpretive Theory and the interpreting process of �comprehension-de-verbalization-reformulation� in interpreting practice.From the perspective of the combination of language and sense,this paper analyzed difficulties and challenges in those three stages,and analyzed the interpreting strategies applied in practice,and classified them into three categories: amplification of the information,omission of the information and adjustment of the word order.In interpreting activity,the interpreter should adopt various interpreting strategies flexibly,so that the communicative sense of the speaker could be conveyed and expressed fluently.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,the interpreter could enhance the acceptability of the interpretation.
