A Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of The Academic Lecture Globalization And Decolonization

The thesis is a report on the simulated English to Chinese consecutive interpretation of the lecture given by Professor Anthony Hopkins from Cambridge University with the topic of Globalization and Decolonization in 2016 at Nanjing University.This report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is Task Description which describes the lecture background,Professor Hopkins' academic achievements and the relevant information of this lecture.Chapter two is Task Process,it deals with preparations,interpreting and proofreading.Chapter three comprises Theoretical Framework and Case Analysis which includes an overview of the Effort Model(EM)and case analyses in terms of applying the EM to listening and analysis,note-taking and memorizing.The last chapter is the conclusion.In this chapter,the author makes a summary of what the author has learned from the interpretation practice and the difficulties she has encountered.The author also points out that the EM plays an important role in guiding interpretation work.
