Study On The Adjective Reduplications In Heroes Of The Marshes

The objective of this paper is the adjective reduplication of Heroes of the Marshes.The paper analyses the form of structures, syntactic function and grammatical meaning of adjective reduplication, combining with the diachronic study. The whole paper can be divided into four chapters:For the introduction of the first chapter,the main topics indicate the origin and significance of Heroes of the Marshes,as well as the description of the scope of material collected.The second chapter focus on the form of the adjective reduplications and the corresponding grammatical meaning.AA-style-type, AABB-stytle-type and ABB-stytle-type are the main form of adjective reduplications in Heroes of the Marshes. They can be divided into different subdivisions. The paper studied their grammatical function based on the characteristics of each category. The adjective reduplications of Heroes of the Marshes can be used as adverbial, attribute, predicate and complement. Adverbial is the most typical grammatical function.As to the third chapter, the paper discusses the grammatical meaning. Through drawing on previous research results and experiences based on the book, the article thinks that basic word of adjective reduplications belonging to quality adjective or stative adjective may affect the grammatical meaning greatly. The paper point out that degree and description are the main grammatical meaning.As the conclusion of the paper, the fourth chapter sum up the whole one. Meanwhile, The paper states explicitly that there are still many inadequacies in this article and many aspects to be studied further.
