Chinese as a foreign language dictionary is export-oriented dictionary, which is targeted at non-native Chinese learners.The object of this study is the Thai Chinese Dictionary designed for Chinese learners in Thailand.With the acceleration of the international process of China, Chinese as a foreign language dictionaries published in China continue to increase both in type and quantity, such as "Chinese words usage dictionary", "HSK Chinese Proficiency Test Dictionary", "Business Hall Learning Chinese Dictionary", "HSK 8000 words Chinese Dictionary "," modern Chinese learning Dictionary "," Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese learning "and so on. However, according to our investigation, these dictionaries’ awareness is not high among the Chinese learners in Thailand,only few of them use such dictionaries.Thailand Chinese learning dictionary is limited to the "Dictionary of Modern Chinese and Thai" edited by Yang Hanchuan, Pei Xiaorui version of "Chinese-Thai dictionary," Pei Qi "Han Thai dictionary," "Thai-Chinese New Dictionary"edited by Fan Jishan. Problems exist in varying degrees in these dictionaries,such as vocabulary obsolete, lack of example sentences, unpractical sentences,inaccurate interpretation, inconvenient to carry, inconvenient to query.In a word,the present dictionaries can not meet the needs of Chinese learners in Thailand. It is imperative to compile Chinese learning dictionary for learners in Thailand.This study investigates from both the user’s and teachers’perspective. Questionnaires are distributed among Thailand university students and Chinese teachers,later the paper will use SPSS 19.0 to establish a "Thai Students Learning Chinese Dictionary Application and Demand Survey Research Database" for analysis and study.In this research,Student questionnaire plays the main role while teacher questionnaire is a supplementation.Combined with interviews, this paper summarizes the current status of the Thai Students Learning Chinese dictionary, analyzes the needs of the dictionary and provides a meaningful reference for the edition of Chinese-Thai Dictionary.This paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 reviews the situation of Foreign-Language- Learning Dictionaries,summarizes the achievements and problems of Foreign -Language- Learning dictionary user research, and the existing situation in Thailand Chinese dictionary;The second chapter describes questionnaire design, survey implementation, data analysis; Chapter 3 introduces the teachers and students’ attitude toward Chinese-Thai dictionary in Thailand University.The analysis will be combined with the teacher’s evaluation for the current dictionary application among university students;Chapter4,Thai Students Learning Chinese Dictionary Use Survey, including the selection of the type of dictionaries, dictionaries’using frequency, the using proficiency, etc;Chapter 5,Thai Students Chinese dictionary needs analysis, summarizing recommendations of college students and Chinese teachers to compile Thai-Chinese dictionary; The sixth chapter, on the basis of the research and analysis, summarizes the necessary characteristics of the Chinese-Thai dictionary for Thailand Chinese learners.Finally,propose some suggestions for compiling Thai-Chinese learning dictionary.
