A Survey On The Use And Demand Of Indonesian College Students'Chinese Learning Mobile Dictionary

With the development of China,cooperation with other countries and convenient economic/cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia have become more and more frequent,and Chinese has naturally become one of the most popular languages.In order to strengthen the good relations between Indonesia and China,many Indonesian learners began to contact and learn Chinese.The demand for dictionaries will naturally increase,and the demand for dictionaries will also increase.With the development of technology,a new type of dictionary,"Mobile Dictionary" has emerged.Mobile dictionary has become one of the most popular dictionaries for Indonesian foreign language learners.It is a dictionary downloaded into smartphones and includes a dictionary for learning Chinese.It is also the most suitable Chinese dictionary for Indonesian Chinese learners.This paper investigates the needs and usage of dictionaries by means of questionnaires and interviews among students from three schools,namely,Chinese Major of Tanjungpura University Pontianak,Chinese Major of Sebelas Maret University and Chinese Major of Al Azhar University Indonesia,as subjects..After that,it puts forward reasonable improvement and suggestions for the Indonesian Mobile Chinese Dictionary.The survey results and suggestions are that Indonesian Chinese majors have a high use rate of mobile Chinese-English dictionaries.The learners believe that mobile Chinese dictionaries are very helpful in the process of learning Chinese.However,most of the learners are not satisfied with the mobile Chinese-Indian dictionary,and there are not many users.They also put forward some problems,such as incomplete vocabulary collection,some words are difficult to find.In addition,some students use mobile Chinese monolingual dictionary because of the influence of the learners'mother tongue background.According to the survey results,the characteristics of mobile Chinese dictionary which can meet the needs of Indonesian Chinese majors are summarized.According to the types of leamers'ethnic groups and the background of their mother tongue,the dictionary is divided into the suggestions of Chinese Indonesian students for mobile Chinese dictionary compilation and the suggestions of non-Chinese Indonesian students for mobile Chinese dictionary compilation.Finally,it improves the dictionary according to the common functional problems of Indonesian Chinese learners'mobile Chinese dictionary.
