Theory Of Language Purification And Korean Language Refinement Policy

In accordance with the globalization of English and acceleration of language contact, language environment is changing, language policy is facing new challenge in many countries. In language purification policy, countries are classified into three segment:non-purification policy type;national unification type; protection of native language type. Korea is a homogeneous and monolinguistic country. But for a long time, Korea has received effect of foreign languages, in general, language problem is connected to the racial spirit. So, since the founding, refinement of Korean language is the main content of language policy. Considerating the history of Korean language policy, Nationalism is the greatest cause of language refinement, even still now. According to the result of research, usage rate of refined words very low, Korean speakers still use pre-refined word. There are micro and macro reason in these result:methodology of refinement and change in language environment. For the sustained and effective language refinement policy, this thesis propose scientific positivism, policy for communication, movement of non government organization, enrichment of Korean and tighten control of refined words.
