Song Boren (1199--?), whose style name is Qizhi, also called Xueyan, was born in Huzhou (Huzhou, Zhejiang Province). He is a member of Jiang-hu Poems in the late Song Dynasty. He passed the examination of Hong-ci-ke (A kind of exam to choose official), and became an officer of salt transport department during the reign of Emperor JiaXi, but not quite smooth to be an officer. He was known by his famous painting book Plum Blossom Painting in late ages. He also wrote two poem collections and two Song Ci collections. Even though plenty of studies emerged toward Plum Blossom Painting in late ages, while most of them are only about fine arts, there is no study about his poems. This article is divided into four chapters. I am trying to study his poem’s subject matter, theme and Artistic features on the basis of Song Boren’s life, experience to be an officer and making friends. The first chapter is the summary about his life and poetry version. Song Boren biographical information is scarce. I roughly draw the outline of his life track and interests by his poetry content, and then do brief description about the poetry version. These can provide the basis to analyze poems in following chapters. I will do classified study in Chapter 2. Social poems expressed the reclusion feelings, eager to go back to countryside and the hard life to be an underlying official; Time poems’style are always fresh and natural; To analyze the feeling of homesick and patriotic come from Impromptu feeling poems. One hundred Poems written on Plum Blossom Painting will be discuss in chapter 3 from two aspects. One aspect is, painting decide poem theme; The other aspect is, in which way poem provide more meaning for painting. Chapter 4 is mainly about Song Boren’s poetry theory and artistic features. Even Though Song Boren is belong to Jiang-hu Poems, he declaimed writing poem should be’let it be’ and draw materials from daily life, such as’have porridge and tea’. ’Easy word’ and plum blossom image run through, the two points, make the poem rich of life interest. I hope my paper can offer help to Song Boren study, and be beneficial to the poetry style study of Jiang-hu Poems.
