This thesis is based on the corpus of middle-late in ancient Chinese, studied on the language phenomenon about substantive components appeared on tht predicate.Substantive ingredients mainly acts as the subject or object, is referential, but in some cases can also be appears in the predicate position, serve as a predicate, and transformed by reference to the statements.This thesis based existing research results, draw lessons from the modern linguistic theory, proceed from the two aspects of syntax, semantics, to research language phenomenon about substantive components appeared on the predicationin.This thesis is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, first introduced this paper’s research object noun, nominal predicate. Then it introduces the research situation from the aspects of the modern Chinese, the ancient Chinese, the diachronic study, the comparison between Chinese and other language. The next is the definition of the scope of the study, the theoretical basis of the introduction and research methods.The second chapter to the fourth chapter is the main part of the thesis.The substantive components as predicate phenomenon is divided into three categories of judgment, description and narration.Substantive components as judgment predicate and description predicate, the character of substantive components no changed, but as narration predicate, the character of substantive components changed.Therefore, to determine the class predicate, predicate description, we mainly syntactic forms, semantic features, statements of the three aspects. And the kind of predicate description, we first on the syntactic forms as simple introduction, then using the Lexicon Theory of role formation, to class denominal verbs, using Generative Lexicon Theory to study Semantic generation mechanism.The fifth chapter explores noun predicate motivation.firstly, it mainly consists of two aspects of linguistic factors and other factors. The internal factors of language include two aspects:syntactic structure and physical character. Other factors mainly take into account the principle of language economy and the need of rhetorical effect. Secondly,to summary the main contents of the paper.
