Semantic Motivation Of New Chinese Noun Words Since The New Century Based On The Generative Lexicon Theory

Since the new century,the economy,politics,culture and other aspects have been constantly changing,and the emergence of new ideas and new things has also led to a large number of new words.New Chinese words have always been the research hotspots of scholars with fruitful results,but the research on semantic motivation is slightly weak.The semantic motivation is the reason and basis of the formation of the word meaning.It mainly explores the relationship between morpheme and morpheme as well as the relationship between morpheme meaning and word meaning.As the core of the generative lexicon theory,the qualia structure mainly includes four qualia roles: formal role,constitutive role,telic role,and agentive role.It’s applicable to explain the semantic motivation.This thesis takes the new Chinese words since the new century as the research object,and uses a combination of literature analysis,quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis to analyze the semantic motivation of new Chinese words.The text is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the basis for selecting this topic,the current status of related research,the research objects,establishes the corpus needed for this article and also introduces research methods,the research objectives and significance of this article.The second chapter introduces the concepts related to this article,including the definition of new words and semantic motivation.The third chapter introduces the research theory of this article,and also finds that the generative lexicon theory has strong applicability to the semantic motivation of new words.The fourth chapter is based on the corpus and uses the theory of qualia structure to analyze the semantic motivation of new words.Classify and investigate the semantic motivation of new words from the perspectives of formal role,constitutive role,telic role,agentive role,action role,and multiple role.The fifth chapter explains the value of qualia structure on the semantic motivation of new words,including the distribution of qualia role in new words,and the advantages and limitations of qualia structure on the analysis of the semantic motivation of new Chinese words.The conclusion part summarizes the main research of the full text,and points out the shortcomings of this thesis.
